WHOA - I just had an epiphany. If you’d asked me yesterday, “Hey Ev, how would you treat the family of a man who just committed suicide in the process of killing two innocent people,” I might have said something totally silly like “I would invite them to dinner and express my deepest condolences. Then maybe we’d have a conversation about the social contagion of violence, the historical futility of tit for tat, the fundamental sameness of all human beings, and perhaps even Rawls’ theory of justice in the context of being born in Israel v. Palestine.” But after waking up this morning and hearing this story on the radio, I have a whole new perspective on how to create the peaceful world we all dream of. Netanyahu has absolutely nailed it. The way to stop angry and desperate people from killing themselves and other people is by punishing their children and mothers and grandmothers. It’s all so obvious now. NEW RULE: If you murder someone in America and then commit suicide, we will immediately blow up the house your family lives in. So in addition to the pain your family feels over your untimely loss, now they have nowhere to live. CRIME? SOLVED! #Netanyahu4PeacePrize2015 #IsThisRealLife?
