WHY ARJUN QUALIFIED FOR BHAGWAD GITA. Why Arjun? Why was he chosen? This is why: 1] COMPASSION: even for his enemies, for those who had forever tortured, conspired, envied, plotted, insulted and wished evil upon the Pandavas. 2] FREE OF GREED: Arjun said ‘Even if I gain the three worlds in all prosperity, it would not remove the grief that is drying up my senses.’ Many people misinterpret Kurukshetra as a ‘property feud’ – maybe that is what it was to Kauravas. But not to Arjun. 3] EMPATHY: with Dhritarashtra and Gandhari’s pain. He said, ‘What happiness can be achieved by killing the sons of Dhritarashtra?’ 4] HUMILITY: and respect for elders. He says, ‘How can I attack my venerable elders Bhishma and Drona, those who are worshippable to me?’ 5] COURAGE to admit ‘Guide me’: He wasn’t arrogant in his empathy. Deep down, he knew his empathy was obstructing justice. Arjun kept his options open, showed that he was amenable to being convinced. He said to Krishn, ‘I surrender myself to you as a disciple. Please instruct me as to what is the right duty to do.’ 6] DESIRE TO LEARN: His series of questions opened vistas for knowledge about Karma- yoga, Dnyana yoga and Sankhya yoga. JAI KRISHNA!
