WHY I AM FIGHTING MTN EXPLOITATION FEARLESSLY there has been a lot of misrepresentation concerning my spirited fight against MTN Uganda consumer Exploitation dubbed #stopMTNgonya; well its always my duty to explain why, instead of being misrepresented by self seekers and liars. I admire THE MEN WHO BUILT AMERICA; Cornelius Vanderbilt of American Railways and Shipping, Andrew Carnegie of Steel, John D. Rockefeller of Standard oil, J.P. Morgan the Financier, and Henry Ford of Ford Motors. Cornelius Vanderbilt, John D. Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, J.P. Morgan and Henry Ford are names synonymous with innovation and big business in America. They all built empires and created advances in technology. They helped shape the country in its early days by doing things such as developing the models for modern railroads, creating the modern financial system and making cars accessible to the masses. The men came from meager beginnings to build their respective empires, which helped formulate the concept of the American Dream. By the end of the 19th century these men and their empires had grown so big so that their impact was now exploiting an ordinary American. It is believed that these men reached the wealth mark of up to $1 trillion at a modern dollar rate. In 1896, JP Morgan, JD Rockefeller bankrolled William McKinley to become president at a time when the general population was against exploitation of these industrialists decampaigning Theodore Roosevelt but Roosevelt became the vice president. President McKinley remained in their pockets until sadly he was assassinated in 1901 and there replaced by Theodore Roosevelt a pro unionists. President Theodore Roosevelt believed that as President, he had a unique relationship with and responsibility to the people, and therefore wanted to challenge prevailing notions of limited government and individualism; government, he maintained, should serve as an agent of reform for the people. His presidency endowed the progressive movement with credibility, lending the prestige of the White House to welfare legislation, government regulation, and the conservation movement. The desire to make society more fair and equitable, with economic possibilities for all Americans, lay behind much of Roosevelts program. The President also changed the governments relationship to big business. Prior to his presidency, the government had generally given the titans of industry carte blanche to accomplish their goals. Roosevelt believed that the government had the right and the responsibility to regulate big business so that its actions did not negatively affect the general public. On May 15, 1911, the Supreme Court ordered the dissolution of Standard Oil Company, ruling it was in violation of the Sherman Antitrust Act. This is the foundation on which the modern America stands; fairness, and the right to Justice by all Americans. WHY THIS #STOPMTNGONYA CAMPAIGN Uganda has no law protecting the citizens to consumer exploitation from these telecom giants which have dominated the whole economy in all spheres Multinational corporations do control. They control the politicians. They control the media. They control the pattern of consumption, entertainment, thinking. Theyre destroying the planet and laying the foundation for violent outbursts and economic suffering.- Jerry Brown therefore Uganda needs a law to protect its vulnerable consumers from exploiting multinationals like MTN Telecom giant. Look at this, on top of varnishing airtime, poor signal, lost internet bundles and dropped calls that are easily visible told by a layman, there are the invisible ways of how MTN exploits us, like Billing and Timing...which is done by themselves in the Switch. Many of you remember the public phone and pay phones; an attendant would sometimes tell you that calling via an MTN payphone would require observing a fact that a minute stops at 40 seconds, meaning their minute stops at 40 seconds...and this is something of very many years back. And whos safeguarding a Ugandan consumer? NO ONE the other day the Uganda Communications Commission Executive Director Godfrey Mutabazi admitted on air that Uganda has no Law to penalize the telecom giants like MTN Uganda when they stray... SO WHY SHOULD WE KEEP WITHOUT A LAW guiding the biggest earners in the country? are we crazy? Everyday we sing patriotism at Kololo... Its only in Uganda where people like Mutabazi can confidently tell the nation with no remorse how they have been presiding over an institution with no law; meaning he has been witnessing EXPLOITATION Knowingly. Can you Imagine? This MTN Uganda is a company that purchases $5m in forex daily from Stanbic Bank to deposit on its SA bank accounts and the whole government is looking on. MTN doesnt operate any Ugandan account, even imprest fund is requisitioned from the mother account in SA and all those who went to school are sitting at Treasury and Finance calling themselves serious Ugandans... Therefore if the government officials incharge are NOT willing to do their mandated role; us as Citizens will do it ourselves. We shall rise up against this exploitation. WAIT and WATCH! Fear is not part of my agenda; i have never met anyone with 1000 years living because they were never killed...therefore my duty as a citizen of Uganda and a consumer of MTN is...TO HUMBLY LEAD! Fellow Countrymen (and women) Lets cooperate in this; I thank you for having been humble citizens and cheated consumers for long BUT enough is enough!
