WHY I DO NOT ATTEND JUSTICE AND PEACE RALLIES A letter sent to the Editor of the Colorado Springs Gazette Aug. 11, 2014 Last week was the third rally sponsored by the Colorado Springs Justice and Peace Commission, to once again protest the deaths of innocent children in Gaza, and to blame Israel for all of their deaths, and for all of the destruction in Gaza. I do not attend “Justice and Peace” rallies for two reasons. First, I don’t believe they stand for either justice or peace. Yes, they would love the world to be at peace, who wouldn’t agree with that? I certainly would. But the only time they get truly wound up is when Israel is involved. Israel can do no right by them. If Israel fights back against Hamas, who has loudly and publicly sworn to kill off all the “Zionists,” JandP blames only Israel. Is that justice? Will that lead to peace? Israel is in a war for its very existence. No one is happy when children die, but had Hamas not begun this by kidnapping and killing three Israeli teenagers, themselves children, and then joyously singing and dancing and gloating about it to the entire world, this war would not have happened. The truth is, and every right-minded person knows it, Hamas wants more and more of its people to die. They think that the resulting visuals will get them more support from the world. They are wrong, people see through Hamas lies. It is Hamas which kills their own children by placing them in front of Israeli soldiers. Is this justice? Will this lead to peace? JandP doesn’t really believe in “peace,” they believe in “kumbaya,” all of us sitting around the campfire and roasting marshmallows together. Fine, why don’t they suggest that to Hamas and see what happens. Jewish Tradition teaches that love and peace will only come to the world when there is justice. Not the other way around. One more reason I don’t attend these rallies: Why doesn’t JandP get furious over all the other deaths in the world? Take Syria, for example, right next door to Israel, where 170,000 Muslims and Christians have been murdered by the so-called “leaders” of the country. Anybody hear anything about this atrocity from JandP? I haven’t. Will there be any JandP rallies to protest against those Syrian deaths? You know there won’t be. No, JandP only holds rallies against tiny little Israel, because only Israel is “the enemy,” only New-Jersey sized Israel is not entitled to defend its citizens the way it sees fit. What do I call people who expect Israel to fight wars but not to hurt anyone, while their enemies are allowed to hide like cowards behind those same innocent children they complain Israel doesn’t care about? Those enemies who hide their rockets underneath mosques and hospitals (I wonder how Allah feels about that!), and who use American money to build deadly tunnels (instead of schools and factories) to attack Israel on our upcoming New Years Festival of Rosh Hashana (you saw the pictures of their tranquilizers and handcuffs sitting and waiting to attack the Jews on our holy day)? What do I call these people? I call them anti-Semites. We’ve dealt with them before, we will doubtless deal with them again. But this time, we have Israel to stand up to anti-Semites. Israel has a powerful army, Jewish blood is no longer free for the asking, as it was 65 years ago. Thank you God! Baruch atta Adonai, Amen! I have some breaking news for JandP: Israel is here, and Israel is not going anywhere. And if you don’t agree with Israel’s policies, well, that’s really just too bad. But this proud Jew doesn’t care about your approval. Perhaps you should work on America’s imperfections. Or your own. Leave Israel alone, her citizens will take care of business so that Israel will survive and continue to prosper. That’s their job, not yours. May God continue to bless the State of Israel, and may Israel continue to defeat her enemies until they surrender. Then, and only then, will there be true justice and peace for Israel and her neighbors. I pray for that day to come soon.
