WHY IS SECTION OF THE COUNTRY SILENT OVER THE REVELATIONS BY AUSTRALIAN’S BOKO HARAM NEGOTIATOR………STEPHEN DAVIS? There seem to be tactical silence or rather ‘’Tactical Manoeuver’’, from a section of the country over the recent revelations by Australian Boko Haram negotiator, Dr Stephen Davis, who fingered the former Governor of Borno State, Senator Ali Madu Sheriff and formerChief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika (rtd) as sponsors of Boko Haram. Apart fom ThisDay, which ran story as lead, most Nigerian newspapers have been tactically silent. Weekly Trusts’ and Leaderships’’ covers were mute about the issue. The Punch tactically took a different angle , which said that ‘’Powerful opposition’’ thwarted the negotiation for the release of Chibok Girls. This same angle is mainly championed by Pro-Government groups. Adeptly implicating both the ruling and the opposition parties. Davis gives Nigerians a fruit of palm to chew. We are now arguing , blaming each other. If Olisa Metuh wanted to exclaim ‘hosanna!’ that ‘’Powerful Opposition’’ was undermining the fight against terror, it would then dawn on him that Senator Ali Modu Sheriff and somehow Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika are part of the PDP kith and kin. And if Lai Mohahmmed wanted to stage shekelewa dance, he would remember the ‘’Powerful Opposition’’ that hampers government’s effort. Now, why do I dismiss Davis’ claim? Davis confessed that BH members gave him the names of their sponsors. Okay, why would some Nigerians believe what BH told Davis? Is it because BH members are saints and therefore, never told lie? I believe BH members are liars. If anybody would believe what BH says, I suppose Muslims shouldn’t join that bandwagon. Have Muslims forgotten, and now want to trust those who lie against Islam? Art thou dazed by bug of amnesia now you can trust the BH ‘isnad’ and accept their narration as ‘sahih’? Will you, as Muslims, believe someone who distorted the meaning of the Holy Qur’an, translated its verses upside down and claimed it ordered him to kill, maim, bomb, rob, rape and kidnap.? Okay now, you may ask, who really sponsors BH? But why is a section of the country silent over the Australian’s expose? Obviously, it’s because the man did not implicate Gen. Mohammadu Buhari or any opposition politician. If it were Buhari , I’m sure many people in the South will lend credence to , lets I forget Pastor Orisejiofor/CAN, will lend credence to the report. They will agree with what Davis says warts and all. They will reason with him hook, line and sinker. Femi Fan-Kayode and Femi Aribisala would have had a field day, pouring invectives, saying the revelations further confirmed his earlier avowal. Asari Dokubo would have held a press conference, calling for Buhari’s head. Olisa Metuh would have sighed and said ‘’this confirmed APC is Janjaweed Party.’’ Marylyn Ogah would have capped it up with a freshly-made ‘Intelligence report’’. And if Modu Sheriff is still in APC , I am sure Nasir El-rufai wouldn’t gleefully share the story to his large social media audience. He would keep mum or ‘’tactical manoeuver.’’ Of this, no thanks to Davis for playing the devil’s advocate.
