WHY MOTHERS ARE THE BEST Mothers are a wonderful creature. Whatever God put in them; scientists cannot explain, philosophers cannot philosophy, no humanity can explain. It’s just in them, something invisible, something amazing and powerful. They seem to understand what their children go through and stand for and by them. They defend their children when hell breaks loose. Some have taken the pain for their children. Some have slept hungry for their kids. Others do men-like jobs not for their liking, but for the sake of their children. They see the future of their products. They believe in their kids, they trust in their potential. More often than not when families break up, mothers will go to their homes with their children. Men are fond of ‘moving on’ by marrying other women and fathering other children with them. Mothers will suffer to their last to oversee the wellbeing of their kids, they will deny themselves pleasures of life for the sake of their children. Today, we celebrate our mothers; whether dead or alive, employed or not, healthy or sick, we want to appreciate the role they have played in our lives. Your mother is the best woman in your life. Your wife or girlfriend can walk away from you, but she will be stand by you to your last breath. She will stand by you. Fathers are a different breed and when kids do mistakes, the mother is always on the blame-end. When a child fails exams, it is a culture and not a shock to hear a father say ‘Huyu mtoto wako anapenda mchezo sana.’ I’m always amazed to hear such comments and they are one of the reasons children tend to have a greater degree of closeness to their mothers than their fathers. And one asks the one question with an obvious answer; Did the mother conceive the child on her own? My own Mum is an iron woman; she has done me a lot. She has tirelessly filled the gaps my life has had. She has proved to be a tower of strength. In lows and highs, in pain and pleasure, in want and sufficiency, she has always been there for me. In my defense she has been. For my needs, provision has been her core; little or enough, her generosity is incomparable. She’s the best gift God ever gave to me.
