WHY STUDY IN CANADA? Canada holds a proud international reputation for high educational standard. Canadian degrees are internationally equivalent to degrees from the United States or Commonwealth countries. To ensure quality standards are met, all academic programs are subject to periodic review by the institutions that offer them, and in some provinces, government bodies. Post-secondary institutions in Canada offer a wealth of program types and disciplines. Colleges offer certificates, diplomas, co-op placements, apprenticeships, and graduate certificate programs. While universities offer three and four year Undergraduate Degrees, Masters programs and Doctorate or PhD programs. Thanks to new trends in education many colleges and universities are coming together to offer collaborative programs which offer the combination of hands-on learning that colleges are known for. Canadians are very proud of the diversity in their nation. In 1971, Canada was the first country in the world to adopt multiculturalism as an official policy. This means Canada recognizes the potential, value and dignity of all people regardless of their racial or ethnic origins, their language, or their religious affiliation. According to a 2001 census, there are 34 ethnic groups which at least one hundred-thousand members each, and in 2007 it was found that allophones (people whose native tongue is neither French nor English) accounted for one fifth of the countrys population. What does that mean to you? It means you can be yourself while feeling no pressure to assimilate to prescribed values. Let’s face it. When you go looking for a study abroad destination, there are a lot of options available to you. But let’s say you want to get your education in a country of diversity like no other. You want to be with people of different cultural and racial backgrounds. You want both wilderness and skyscrapers. You want educational choices, beginning with either French or English as the language of instruction, for literally hundreds of specializations from aerospace engineering to zoology. You want to pick from among institutions that enroll 1,000 and 60,000 students, with every size in between. You want to live in a cosmopolitan city, but it has to be close to a large park where you can ski, swim, canoe, hike and bike; or you want to live in a small town that is only a short train ride to a big city where you can see an award-winning stage musical or a big league hockey, basketball, or football game. What about a part-time job? • International students with a valid study permit who find a job on campus do not need an extra work permit. • However, these jobs are in short supply and part-time work off campus requires a permit allowing the holder to work up to 20 hours per week during term time and full-time during vacations. What are you waiting for!!!! With Chelis Education Consult, the journey becomes smoother.
