WHY WE NEED A SECOND COLONIZATION. There is no gain saying that Nigeria have faired better after the colonial masters left our shore and took down the Union Jack flag in replacement of the ever brighter Green White Green flag, thereby heralding the birth of a new republic and independent Nigeria. Ever then, the country have been struggling through coup and counter coups that have devastated the nation and the subsequent civil war which not only help in dividing the nation along ethnic and religious line but help in exacerbating the worsening depression and economic woe in the polity. There is no trust or honesty among the federating units especially the young and the elites group. The nation has become everyone for himself instead of the nation first. In a true federating nation, you put the country first before self. Our case is not like that, we are not even proud to call ourselves Nigerians and I dont begrudge us that. It is the position that our rogue politicians have conscripted us to. The prevailing democracy that the country have been enjoying since 1999 is a mere charade and nothing to be compared with. It is all in shambles and no thing more than a magician in a theatre performing under the obscuration of his naive audience. I took a recent study of a similar country like ours though in lesser disparity as to colonial master, She was originally colonized by Spain, then Haiti including the French people and finally the United States. Dominican Republic is an independent Island with her only sister neighbour Haiti in the Caribbean Archipelago. Dominican Republic suffered many ill fates like Nigeria, coups and counter coups, failed democracy and civil war but at a time when the country was at the verge of collapsing in 1966 they have to sign a treaty with the United States government for second colonization which the Americans honored and enter the treaty with them. When the people of Dominican Republic feel that they are now okay to be a responsible people, they simply have to asked the American to allow them to try governing themselves again. Americans only ask in reply, are you sure that you can now handle your domestic affairs by yourselves now and if that is the case, we will take our flag and military away but we will allow you keep the national guard. And that was it, the Dominicans thank them and sent them forth back to Uncle Sam. This was a country that was riddled with corruption, distrust and ethnic fighting, today it is one of the world most tourist nation. Many Asians are working there as cheap laborers and their sister neighbour Haiti who once colonized them. The Country is made up of 70% multiracial ( mix colours) 17% white and 13% blacks. What will it take us to admit that we are incapable of ruling ourselves? Is it not time we should look upto our colonial master the Almighty British to come and take over our country and rule us for 50 years by then all these evil and corrupted politicians would have been long gone and leave only our innocent generation who were born 50 years of the given time to be in control. Whose mind will not be corrupted as the present day Nigerians. It is not a sign of weakness but it is a sign of admitting that you dont know the job and you want to learn.
