WHY YOU CAN CHIRP LIKE THE BIRDS Matthew 6:26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Unlike farmers, birds don’t toil in the fields under the hot sun. In a more modern setting, they don’t ride the train to work and work nine-hour shifts. Birds aren’t very forward-looking too. They don’t have any savings or retirement plans, or investment portfolios. Yet, despite their failure to plan ahead, despite their laidback lifestyle, God still feeds these little carefree creatures. With this realization comes Jesus’ question: Aren’t you more valuable than these birds? Put simply, if God is so nice to these cheap, lazy birds, don’t you think He’ll be even nicer to you, His child? Am I saying don’t work and save and just bum around? No, but whether God feeds you or not has really nothing to do with how hard you work or how well you plan for the future. Your heavenly Father provides for you either way, simply because you are valuable and precious to Him! That should make us all a lot chirpier at work.
