WILDLIFE RESCUE - A very busy Saturday, worked 13 hours and still not finished! First up a Sparrowhawk from the Dam Vets in Selby. Concussed and very quiet for what is usually a very panicky bird. Had a chat with Jean Thorpe at Ryedale Rehab and Jean suggested an X-ray if there is no improvement. Next a call from the Dogs Trust in Leeds about a little black puppy found in a garden. The puppy was in fact a tiny fox cub, about 2 weeks old. The little cub is doing well, but because he came in alone, he may have to move to The Wildlife Haven Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre who have a number of fox cubs around the same age. It is vitally important that he grows up with his own kind. I will be sad to see him go but his welfare must take priority. Hazel the little bunny is growing fast and will soon be big enough to be released. Archie and Rosie, the two little collared doves, hatched after a sparrowhawk took their mum, have done fantastic indoors, but struggled in the aviary, so are back inside for another week. Sadly only one of the four eggs we had hatched. However the little dove which did hatch is doing ok though not as robust as I would like. However, we will do our best as always. selbywildlife.co.uk
