WILLOW WORKSHOPS in WINDHAM COUNTY...anyone interested if I can get them to do one closer to Springfield/Ludlow? Willow shrubs and trees can provide habitat enhancement, water quality improvement and erosion reduction in waterways, and can be especially beneficial along storm-damaged stream banks for their ability to root and grow quickly. Landowners can easily propagate willows to help re-establish lost vegetation. Come learn about how to identify, harvest and propagate willows at two workshops in Windham County. Materials will be provided on proper plant selection, harvesting and planting techniques; and how to identify several types of willows found growing in Vermont . Refreshments will be served! WILLOW WORKSHOP 1 WHEN: THURSDAY, OCT 3rd TIME: 6:00 – 7:00pm WHERE: WILMINGTON, VT Workshop will take place in the West Main St. public parking lot, behind and just west of the Crafts Inn. A large blue ‘public parking’ sign marks the entrance to the parking lot. If inclement weather, we will meet in the lot and then move inside to the Wilmington Town Offices at 2 East Main St. WILLOW WORKSHOP 2 WHEN: WEDNESDAY, OCT 16th TIME: 2:00 - 2:30pm WHERE: PUTNEY, VT Workshop will take place in the gift shop at Green Mountain Orchards, located at 130 West Hill Road in Putney.
