WINNING EACH DAY DAILY DEVOTIONAL 2 Cor 2:14 “And thanks be to God who ALWAYS causes us to triumph…” November 19, 2014 TREMENDOUS THINGS (II) PSALM 18 TLB 3 All I need to do is cry to him—oh, praise the Lord—and I am saved from all my enemies! 7 Then the earth rocked and reeled, and mountains shook and trembled. How they quaked! For he was angry.” God is so good we call Him “God”. He exists to reward (Heb 11:6) and is by very nature good. “Yea, the LORD shall give THAT WHICH IS good; and our land shall yield her increase.” (Psa 85:12) Psalm 67:5-6 shows us the Kingdom principle that provokes such increase in our lives: “5 Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. 6 THEN shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us.” PSALM 18:3- When we praise, God will do the impossible. “ALL YOU NEED TO DO is cry to him-oh, praise the Lord…!” Sometimes, all you need to engage is just one ordinance. The Hebrew word for praise here is “Halal”. It is the root word from which we get “Hallelujah”. Halal means to shine (or make a show), to boast (making a joyful noise without the consideration of decorum); to rave, and to celebrate. It includes dancing, laughing, twirling, and a vivid expression of our gratitude to God. This was the kind of praise David gave that his wife frowned at, because of its disregard for dignity. When we praise God, we should forget about ourselves and go the extra mile just to honour Him. PSALM 18:4-6: When we praise in times of helplessness, the God of all hopefulness shows up. PSALM 18:7 says His presence moves mountains! (See also: Psa 114:4) He takes our case personal and for our sake, gets angry. Praise your way to God’s tremendous things today. CONFESSION: I will sing and praise in tongues; I will praise God with my understanding also. (1Cor 14:15) PRAYER: Let my experience be described even by my enemies as “Tremendous Things.” FURTHER READING: Psalm 18:3-7 TLB, Lev 26:3-5 NIV.
