WINNING EACH DAY DEVOTIONAL 2Cor 2:14 And thanks be to God who ALWAYS causes us to triumph... Feb 11, 2014 THE NECESSARY INGREDIENT 1 Corinthians 14:1(NLT) Let love be your highest goal! But you should also desire the special abilities the Spirit gives—especially the ability to prophesy. Gods desire is that we all live our lives with love as the highest priority. The Message Bible rendering of that verse says to ‘Go after a life of love as though our lives depend on it.’ Love is mandatory – it’s not optional. There are lots of things in life that are not compulsory – though they’re important. For example, a life of luxury is not compulsory; though it’s desirable. If a child of God will ever go far with God, he or she must understand the dynamics of love. If love is our highest goal it then means there are lower goals (in comparison to it). 1 Corinthians 13:13 says that three forces abide – faith, hope, and love – the greatest of which is love. Hope (according to Vine’s dictionary) is defined as a favorable and confident expectation. This was the type of hope talked about in Romans 4:18. It says ‘…against (natural, sense-driven) hope, he (Papa Abraham) believed in (supernatural) hope.’ Hope and faith work together. Expectation (hope) leads to faith. Faith is a necessity in Christiandom. That’s why no Christian can live without it. It is dynamic. Hebrews 11 shows us the spectacular things done through faith. Though much can be accomplished by hope and faith, we are to choose love above these two (1 Corinthians 13:13). Love is THE NECESSARY INGREDIENT for faith. Every Christian must have a LOVEMETER (the meter for measuring love in our lives). It (love)is the only thing that can activate faith. 1 Corinthians 13:1 says to pursue love. CONFESSION: Im a distributor of Gods love. Gods love consumes me! FURTHER STUDY: 1 John 4:8, Hebrews 11:1
