WINSTON-SALEM NORTH CAROLINA. Address is: 1927 Bedford Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27107 House is vacant and neighbors are aware of situation. PHONE CALLS needed: Forsyth Animal Control: 336-703-2490; Forsyth Animal Control: 336-703-2490;Forsyth Humane Society: 336-721-1303;Triad SPCA: 336-375-3222, SPCA email: [email protected]. Young male pit chained with 2 ft. of chain has been abandoned in a backyard. Neighbors filled me in that the owners (renters of the Section 8 house) vacated the property and left the dog behind. They come by maybe once in a while and drop off a bowl of food and leave. Neighbors state this dog used to be an indoor dog but was put outside full-time for some reason quite some time ago. The dog is friendly to the owners but is showing signs of protecting his space and is fearful of approaches by other people. He lunges at certain people and not others. He is having to urinate and defecate right at the opening of his doghouse. There is a dirty bundled up blanket in front of his doghouse that has been so saturated with waste, it is now hardened. Neighbor also told me has has been bitten by yellow jackets several times on his body and mouth. After being bitten, he has been showing signs of swelling and hiding in his dog house. He has also been tangled up in his chain several times to the point of not being able to move. Animal Control (Forsyth County) has been called several times by neighbors and have done nothing. Neighbors are feeding/watering but are having to use caution. Upon my observation after seeing the dog and its living situation, this dog looks defeated, scared, is drooling heavily when food is presented, and howling/whining at night.
