WINTER #KSWX 6PM UPDATE via NWS Kansas City: Finally got the new graphics put together. Thanks for being patient. Weve shifted the potential for icing a bit further north on the south end and shrunk it a bit on the north end. The freezing line and ground temperatures will be the primary mechanisms to separate those getting a glaze of ice vs just wet surfaces. Icing can occur with air temperatures of 32 or 33 degrees when ground temperatures are sub-freezing. Temps likely to hold steady from late evening through the overnight hours. The wintry mix should end my mid morning, then a lull in the precip till late afternoon. A band is snow will spread quickly from west to east late Saturday afternoon and evening. As we mentioned earlier weve shifted the heavier band of snow to the southeast. This means less snow for far northwest MO (around an inch) and a bit more snow from east central KS through KC into northeast MO (1-3 likely). Be careful if you must drive tonight. Allow extra driving time to get to where youre going and more space between the car in front of you.
