WOMAN Taken out of Men: Gen 2:22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. {made: Heb. builded} 23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. {Woman: Heb. Isha} {Man: Heb. Ish). 1Cor 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. 1Cor 11:8 For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. 1Cor 11:9 Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. 1Pe 3:7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered. Several woman are mentioned in Scripture as having been endowed with prophetic gift as Miriam(Ex 15:20),Deborah(Judg 4:4,5), Hudah (2 Kings 22:14),Naodiah(Neh 6:14), Anna (Luke 2:36,37), and the daughters of Philip the evangelist (Acts 21:8-9). Woman are forbidden to teach publicly (1 Cor 4:34; 35, 1 Tim 2: 11,12). Among the Hebrews it devolved upon the woman to prepare the meals for the household.(Gen 18:6; 2 Sam 13:8), to attend to the work of spinning(Ex 35:26; Pro 31:19), and making clothes (1 Sam 2:19; Pro 31:21), to bring water from the well (Gen:24:15, 1 Sam 19:11), and to care for the flocks(Gen 29:6; Ex 2:16). The word woman used in Matt 15:28, John 2:4 & 20:13,15 implies tenderness and courtesy not disrespect. Only where revelation is known has a woman her due place of honour assigned to her.
