WOMENS DAY - HISTORY AND ORIGINS The origins of WOMENS DAY date back to 1908, when the Textile Cotton of Nw York, went on strike against the terrible conditions in wiche they are forced to work. The strike lasted for some days, but on 8 March the owner Mr Johnson blocked all the doors to prevent workers leaving. The firere broke out and the 129 workers trapped inside, died, burned by the flames. Between them there were many immigrants, the women sought get away from misery to work. In memory of this tragedy, Rosa Luxemburg suggested this date as a day of international action in favor of women. Not a party, so, but a day to reflect on the women conditions and to organize flights for improving the conditions of life of women. By the time the March 8 assumed global importance, becoming the symbol oh harassment that women have had to endure throughout the centuries and the starting point for their ransom
