WONDER WEEK 12 (3 months) Smooth Transitions - TopicsExpress

WONDER WEEK 12 (3 months) Smooth Transitions Baby’s movements become smoother and more coordinated; baby also begins to recognize changes in her world, and the patterns of these changes (i.e. every time the dryer buzzer goes off, mom leaves the room). Baby is getting squirmier at this age and becoming more active. That can mean changes to her sleep routine. Your baby may start breaking free of the swaddle. Some parents find that baby’s newfound ability to roll interferes with sleep – baby can roll from back to tummy, but not the other way around. Other parents notice that their babies settle into a semi-regular sleeping and feeding schedule at this age. In general, baby likes books now, will blow spit bubbles and will practice with his/her voice, so talk and sing all the time. Your face is the favorite/greatest toy and baby will begin to imitate your sounds and expressions. Be consistent with the massaging. Your bonding will deepen and the development of all cognitive and physical growth will continue rapidly. You may notice that, since you have been consistent with the massage, your baby is calmer, more easily soothed and sleeps more readily than others around the same age. Good job, Mommy!
