WOO HOO!!! I am one proud momma!!! (clearly all those years of watching Mom sing with the Fun Co. about this stuff sunk in! haha!) Just got this email from Garretts school: Good afternoon parents, I am sending out this message to congratulate your child for being selected as a DARE Essay Contest winner at Riverside Intermediate School. Officer Shaun Williams and I collected the DARE Essays during our last class at the end of last week. We worked over the weekend and even part of the day today to review the nearly 500 essays! We have finalized our decision and have selected two students from each class as classroom winners. It was no easy task, but we believe we have selected some very excellent essays! Your child’s essay was one of the essays selected. They will receive special recognition at tomorrow’s DARE Celebration. We know timing is difficult because of the short turn around, but the DARE Celebration is set for tomorrow morning at 9:30am. If you can make it- please feel free to join us to recognize your child along with all of the 5th graders. The DARE Celebration will begin as close to 9:30am tomorrow as possible, as we will be immediately following the RSI Community Day featuring Boomer of the Indiana Pacers. The mission of the DARE program is to help kids learn to make good choices and build good character. We are excited to celebrate these characteristics tomorrow! Thank-you, Lt.
