WORD Today 10/01/14 Job 9:1-12, 14-16 Lk 9:57-62 In todays Gospel Jesus outlines 3 qualities of a true follower: 1. We do not follow Jesus for material blessings. Its good to pray for help to our problems but its not our central motive. We may even have to sacrifice our comforts. 2. The time to proclaim the Kingdom - to love, give & forgive - is now, not later. The present moment is the only real moment in life. 3. We set our face on the work or ministry God has called us into - no regretting our decision to follow, no cooling down of resolve. In the 1st Reading, in spite losing his family, wealth & health, Job tells us that God is infinitely wise and is always right. So how can we be right and God be wrong? How can we pick & choose which teaching to follow? Why do we allow worldly values to blur His cause and override His teaching? Lord Jesus, grant us Wisdom and Fortitude to follow wherever You lead.
