WORD Today 11/23/14 Ez 34:11-12, 15-17 1Cor 15:20-26, 28 Mt 25:31-46 Today, the last Sunday of the church year, is the grand Feast of Christ the King. It summarizes everything we have been trying to learn all year: how to love & obey Jesus as King of our lives. Jesus is the King who serves His people. His ultimate service was to be crucified for our sins. His throne is the cross where His hands & feet were nailed and could not move. He is our King when we now serve Him and do the saving work He must continue to do. His physical work is to feed, give drink, clothe & shelter the needy, to visit the sick & imprisoned, and help bury the dead. His spiritual work is to admonish sinners, instruct the ignorant, counsel the doubtful, comfort the sorrowful, bear wrongs patiently, forgive injuries, and pray for the living & the dead. At the Mass today let us renew our oath of allegiance & service to Christ the King.
