WORK IN PROGESS... PUTTING IN THE WORK: BE CAREFEUL 47…. Tanqueray offered to drive to pick up her sister, Chardonnay from her stay in rehab. She needed to get out of the city. Her mind was all over the place. She had been on a sabbatical of sorts from her lovers. It had been many weeks since Julisa had taken off for Miami and Cuba and according to Amara, her cousin, office manager and Tanq’s aunt by marriage, Julisa was returning to Jacksonville. Tanq didn’t know how to feel about that and she was overwhelmed completely by Phillip’s constant texting. If she didn’t love her family and have children in Miami, she would be tempted to fly away. To stay and make choice would call for Putting in The Work… and denying herself… was she able to do that and stay focused? Chardonnay had done her twelve week stay in rehab and was clean and rested. She hadn’t felt as healthy since she had first gotten on the roller coaster ride known as fame. One of the hardest things had been admitting how angry she had been with her mother Chenise, for placing her on a pedestal above her sisters and how that had damaged her relationships with all of them, in particular Brandy. Even when Brandy had been a pill head living in the hood, Char had always felt less than her, less pretty, less focused. She had watched Brandy take care of her sons, create meals for neighborhood children and earn hundreds of dollars a week creating hairstyles while under the influence. One of the biggest things she had to admit was she wasn’t sure how to mend those fences or even if she had what it took to try to. She had grownup problems, to be sure and she would be unable to sing her way through them. She would have to PUT IN THE WORK…
