WORKDAY SUNDAY: We will host the first Rockford Trench workday on SUNDAY this weekend. I have room if guys want to ride. I plan to leave by 8 a.m. and arrive onsite by 9 a.m. We will work until about 5 p.m. The main work is roofing the 2 remaining bunkers, cutting steps into one of the trench walls for an exit and flooring the largest bunker is time and water/ice levels allow. There is still snow on the ground on the site, but less in Rockford than in Chicago. We are hoping most will melt off by Sunday with the expected 40 and 50 degree weather over the next couple days. Plan on lots of mud. We will have one of the locals scout the snow berm situation Friday. If needed, we will dig an opening through the berm to drive into the site. For those new to the site, go past the Midway Village Museum entrance on Guilford Road and drive into the LZ Landing zone Memorial Peace Park just past the museum. Drive down the gravel road along the museum property. There should be vehicles parked around where the battlefield and trench are located. Bring warm clothing (will be around 30 degrees), a change of shoes, work gloves and tools (hammers, picks, shovels, battery powered saws and drills, etc.) My cell is (847) 347-7470 Thanks - Dave F
