WORKING TOGETHER FOR OUR NATION. Cooperation seems simple: working together toward a common goal for the benefit our country. But amazingly it can be quite challenging, even when we have so many successful examples all around us. A successful human society is based upon the concept of cooperation, but finding a balance to ensure the renaissance of Nigeria will be cumbersome, especially in our politically charged society. In nature, a symbiotic relationship has been form between unlikely allies: a bee and a flower, a bird and a rhinoceros, small fish and sharks. Yet nature also shows us instances of constant competition in which only the strongest survive. Given the choice, it will be increasable progressive if Nigerians should choose the more peaceful path of coordinated cooperation, irrespective of our political or religious affiliations instead of being engulfed in battles. Intellectually, we know that together we can build a greater, better and stronger nation than a desegregated regional dichotomy. Regionalism still seems to be one of the greatest challenges to the renaissance of our nation. We may not always agree on how to revamp our economy or redistribute our natural resources. Our priorities may be different, our religion may be different, our traditions may be different, our cultures may be different, our political party may be different but in the end, coordinated cooperation offers the best chance for the renaissance of Nigeria. So how can we learn to cooperate and co-exist with each other? We can gain greater perspective by trying to understand and compromise on various point of view, religion, tradition, culture, politics and perhaps even put ourselves in others position. We can search for commonalities as well as differences, and look for the superlative integration in dynamic approach. There is always more than one way of doing things, and some approaches are better suited for certain situations than others. We should stop importing foreign doctrines and policies that are not tailored to fit Nigeria. With intensive and extensive consultations to all our citizens, we can find a way to bridge our differences. All this is easier when we let go the belief of, birth rites, regionalisms, quota systems, infidels, godfatherism, and any negative set-up that will backpedal or retrogress our nation and majority of our people to third class citizens. More importantly, we must believe in our ability to use our human and natural resources to leapfrog adverse poverty and bring better life to our people in a dignified way. The outcome of coordinated cooperation is immense and priceless; it can foster peace, unity and progress in an unprecedented scale that will catapult our nation at par with first world League of Nations.
