#WORLDPREMATURITYDAY Today is Prematurity Awareness Day! The statistics say 1 in 8 babies are born premature but in our family, it was 3 in 4. Aubree and Nicholas were late term preemie twins who spent 10 days in the NICU on a ventilator and feeding tube because even though they were so close to full term, it just wasnt enough for them. They still were not done developing. Then our Jaxon came along 13 weeks before his due date after my water had already been broken for 8 weeks and he spent 78 days in the NICU. Those 98 days combined spent in the nicu with 3 of our babies were the most difficult of our entire lives. Nobody should ever have to go through the nightmare of watching your child suffer, unable to survive without the support of so many tubes, wires, machines and medications. No mother should have to deal with the PTSD that occurs for years afterwards. Awareness is a small part but its what we can do right now to help #fightforbabies so today we have our purple on and we will be sharing our story for all who will hear/read it!! Also, there is a very special story that will be up on my blog in the next hour about a very amazing family who has also fought the preemie fight. I will post the link in just a little bit but I encourage everyone to read it!!
