WORSHIP SONG for THURSDAY - We live in a culture thats all about who you know! People will drop names of the rich, the famous, the influential and even the infamous with the hope of impressing someone else. (who for the most part really doesnt care!) We think that our claim to fame is secured by who we know or who knows us. Really?!? And sad to say that sometimes even the Followers of JESUS do this dropping of names! Oh, we try to say it with humility, without pride and devoid of bragging but we do it nonetheless. As if someone well known in the Christian community that we might know on a personal level adds to the value we have as a person! Or we think that others will be really impressed with the circle we travel in or how we roll. Really!?! Think about this....If you know GOD and GOD knows you, then who else could you possibly know that could top that? You might tell me of someone rich, famous, infamous, influential, talented or whatever and no matter what name you drop, if I say....GOD knows my Name and I know GOD...personally....then what could top this relationship? And those of us who really do know GOD and GOD really does know us, know that this special relationship doesnt result in pride, in fact it causes us to have great humility because we know that only by the unmerited favor and grace of a loving God do we know Him and serve Him. Only by His mercy we have come to have fellowship with Him and we are only made worthy for such fellowship by the precious blood of His Son Jesus, which was shed for us on the cross so long ago. I do know God and He does know me but I deserve nothing from Him. I have not earned anything that I have from Him and its only by His reaching out to me that I have come to know Him. When I get prideful, I remember that and when I get beat up, discouraged or depressed, I also remember that He knows my name and calls me His own. When the confidence that this creates in my heart is balanced by the humility His love produces I am in perfect harmony, peace and joy. God knows me and I know Him....after that, what really matters?
