WORTH THINKING ABOUT IT! #worththinkingabouti JESUS DID NOT COME TO MY CHURCH Amos 5:21; I hate, I reject your festivals, Nor do I delight in your solemn assemblies. My Church is one of the largest and the most organized. We even have some local branches in many towns. I love my Pastor and His twelve ordained associate Pastors. My Church is the bomb as you would say today. Last Sunday we had the Governor and the Prime Minister attend our service. You know because every Sunday we have one celebration or super Sunday service so I didnt know last Sunday was super special. I checked the Churchs bulletin and found the Governor and the Prime Ministers name on the front page. They are not really members but seeing them there made me feel like saying; wow! My Pastor really is a super-star, how did he get both Governor Pilate and Prime Minister Herod to come at the same time. They were the two political Lords of my district. Wow! This is the raw power of God, I bow for the man of God. Then I saw at the front seats too- the Senior Archbishop Caiaphas and the Charismatic Preacher from the largest Church in my country- Bishop Ananias. Oh mine or mine This is a Super Sunday! Both men are the richest Pastors in town. We are really destined for great things in my Church. Mrs. Herodias led the worship service. You will not believe that it was her second marriage...she sang powerfully. Who says God cares about divorce, he simply doesnt...she had the anointing on her. Just grace... Pastor Judas Iscariot then came up to ask people to give towards the work. He said; after we have raised enough Millions, we will look for a small village and help them out. He however, said the Church wanted to renovate the Pastors Pent house and holiday home and buy a new 4WD for our senior pastor first before helping the poor since the Bible says; we will always find the poor amidst us. That is first on the agenda of the Church. Oh I remember how he said it; the poor are the divine nuisance that the Church must help out once in a while. Laugh! Pastor Judas is so powerfully anointed to raise funds for the Kingdom and most importantly for keeping our Church as a celebrity centre of our city. You cannot fault that. Next came the speech of the Governor and the Prime Minister. Pilate did not waste too much time, you know he is not religious but the man has got an anointing too. He was just flowing in the anointing. Herod, the prime Minister just asked that we pray for him and the Pastors all came together to anoint him with oil for greater exploits. Oh! Come and see how the power of the anointing began to manifest. He stood up and gave the Church some hectares of land and also wrote a Cheque. That is the anointing! I just knew that by the time the senior Pastor Jesus got on stage- oh the word will come with powerrrrrrr. Then I noticed, that only Associate Pastor Judas was recognizable. The remaining eleven(11) associate ministers are simply new faces. The Senior Pastor was not also on seat. Where did all the familiar faces go and where did the replacements come from? I then began to wonder. What is going on? But... The service witnessed the anointing... The Governor and prime minister were there... Herodias led a beautiful worship service with praises rocking the house... HOW DID WE DO ALL THOSE THINGS IN THE ABSENCE OF JESUS CHRIST? CAN WE DO ALL THOSE THINGS WITHOUT JESUS? #Where did Jesus go? As I left the Church with a troubled mind; I met a very happy Old woman jumping for joy with her daughter beside her and could not but ask her why the celebration. She replied; Jesus Christ just healed my daughter. I asked if she was sure and ask her to tell me where I can find Jesus. She said; that is easy. Jesus is with the sinners, the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind, the publicans, the sick, the poor and the troubled. And as she turned to leave me, she looked back and said again; You cant find Him anywhere else...they are sick and He is their physician. Then I remembered; The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lords favor (Luke 4:18-19). Just five categories were on His missions list and anyone I cant on His missions list should not be my concern too. I told myself quietly as I walked back home; Jesus Christ please let me know where you will be for the next service, that is where I want to be and it doesnt matter if its with people of low or no class. I just want to be with you. Where will you worship, with Jesus or your friends? Remember any worship service you can handle well without Him and His word, is your service even if you label it Super Sunday service. Your choir dont need Him, your programme announcer dont need him because he has the voice/charisma, your song leader is really on fire without Him, your instrumentalist are the best in town and your Pastor too has the oratory skill...so Jesus wont come or you think He will change His favourite crowd because you were born in the twentieth to twenty-first century? NO never. Shalom! (C) Bishop Ponle Alabi #copeainc
