March 23, 2014- USAs unclassified report on Liberia (Liberia Governance Stakeholders Survey) says the following in Ellens Liberia: “Liberia turns into a Family and Cronies Paradise”! “US$16 Billion Investment, Nothing to Show”! “The process of awarding concessions is opaque, does not follow Liberia laws and does not address the concerns of local communities or the Nation as a whole” “The vast majority of laws in Liberia are not enforced, businesses are not regulated and justice is not carried out in accordance with the Constitution”! “Corruption is commonplace throughout all enforcement, regulatory, and rule of law institutions of the Government”! “Government payroll is dominated by syndicates of corruption that operate at all levels of the public administration”! “Economic conditions are poor with eight in ten Liberians surviving on less than a dollar per day with a lot of infrastructures in ruins”! “Eighty five percent of the labor force is unemployed”! “Less than 1 percent of Liberians have access to electricity”! “Majority Liberians (mostly indigenous ones) are marginalized from public sector decision making processes and are negatively affected by decisions made by the elite, who often do not visit the countryside or understand its needs”! . “Hospitals and medical facilities in Liberia are very poorly equipped and are incapable of providing many services”! “Medicines are scarce, often beyond expiration dates, and generally unavailable in most areas”! . “Human rights abuses rampant: police abuse, harassment, and intimidation of detainees and others; arbitrary arrest and detention; official corruption; human trafficking; ethnic discrimination; mob killings; and ritualistic killings” “The President’s Power goes unchecked!
