WOW! WOW! WOW! I should have the words to say, but WOW, is all I - TopicsExpress

WOW! WOW! WOW! I should have the words to say, but WOW, is all I can come up with. I hope I can speak for the crew of "Devoti" when I say we were amazed by your support to first telling this story but then to come and watch this story and finally to share with us afterwards your stories, the moments you liked in the story and your appreciation. So many touching moments- some of you shared lines in the story that stuck with you, continued to tell us your favorite memory, seeing the silhouette in the theatre of a tear going down someone’s face but most of all the most touching point having many of you say, “This reminds us why we do it and what we have together.” those were the gifts to us. Someone shared with me the three words that stuck with them, “Food-Family-Faith three simple words to describe us so well.” The close with Fena singing was as touching as I had hoped, actually more touching. I am a tough guy-I am, and I cried the first time I edited the close, I called Jen and told her “wait till you feel the ending.” I wondered and feared the reaction it would receive from you all but a vibe swept through the room the second she faded up and began to recite the prayer. And the clapping at the end to the song was wonderful. I never thanked my wife, Kerry who puts up with me but also logged every single word said in every interview. It is a long process. But really without the support and understanding of my family I don’t know where I would be. I really disappeared for the summer. So my kids to put up with that is a testament. Each person who helped on this journey played a huge role and even the simplest job played a huge role to bring you this gift. Big thanks for Mauro to take on his role. To take time out of his movie production to help us in a tough moment was huge and taxing. To Saint Lucy, thank her for her help, she sent us on this journey. Slowed us down at points, made us stop and reminded us why we were doing it. Can you believe she pulled together this crew to take a 3-year journey to tell her story? Our journey nothing compared to her journey. I welcome you to pray for Alfio, he is a strong man in Carlentini. He prays for others and not himself. If there is a man to met in the world. It is him! His devotion is amazing and inspiring. May it inspire you! Finally we were clearly called to tell this story. Called to come together as a team and gather the pieces and then put them together and share with you. Thank you for giving Carrie and I the responsibility and trust to take your moments and weave together your story. We are honored, humbled and lot of other honoring words I can’t think of. It was amazing to see you all come together and celebrate. And really that is a prize for us. Finally part two-follow the journey. If Santa Lucia moves you, follow her. I am 100% certain she will not lead you astray. (I am telling you the lady sat on my shoulder some days) She lead me-She is with you. Finally three-my daughter is going through confirmation and last night said she wants to change her Saint to Saint Lucy. Nice! One more and I’m out-Thank you. It is because of you and your faith, your joy in your heritage, your faith and your families that in today’s world you continue to celebrate a saint and parade your faith through a city. When those trumpets play and the doors open and the men lift the Saint up, I pray you continue to remember and celebrate that heritage and faith. Remember the Pray Alfio gave you at the end! Thank you. DEVOTI!!!!! VIVA SANTA LUCIA!!! (Someone call casting and get Yano and Joe a show!!!) -Peter J. Soby
