WRAL is reporting that Clay Aiken has assembled a political team and is expected to announce next month that he will, indeed, be running for Congress against Renee Ellmers. For those of you unfamiliar with Clay Aiken, he is a North Carolinian who first gained fame on the popular singing competition American Idol and went on to build a successful career as a pop singer following his appearance on the show. He is a Democrat and has long been a celebrity ambassador for UNICEF, traveling to places where conflict and hunger have created a humanitarian crisis in an effort to gain help for those countries.
