WRITING TIP:WRITING IS NOT AN INBORN - TopicsExpress

WRITING TIP:WRITING IS NOT AN INBORN TALENT ############################################ Sometimes people write to me expressing their desire to write, but they often kill any attempts to write with the thinking that they do not have the gift of writing. This notion is not true. Anybody can become a good writer. Writing is more of a learned art than a inborn talent or a heavenly gift. No one is born a writer. Unlike an athlete who may be endowed with some physical strength for a particular sport, a writer need to first of all learn to read and write in the language they write. You dont need strong bones or muscles to write. Writing is not easy. It is very difficult. But it becomes easy with time and continuous practice. This is a personal experience. I started writing back in the junior high school. It became more regular in the senior high school. In fact, Mr Empeh Fredoline, who recommended that I go the school of journalism said he was impressed with my writings back at the SHS. That notwithstanding, when I started writing News Commentaries for GBC Radio, it was a tough job. At the beginning, it sometimes took me up one week to write a two-page script, about 600 words long. I had a fair idea what I wanted to write but sometimes after a paragraph or two, I would get stuck. But it came to a time I could produce a script within 30 minutes when I sat behind my laptop with some borborbor or gospel music in the background. Thats how easy writing becomes when you do it continuously. So? Dont give up your desire to write. It is not a talent reserved for some special people. If you have the desire to write and you back it with constant practice and a lot of reading, you can write and your byline, not your headline, will attract readers. There are some technique you need to learn to make that dream real. Thats why you must not keep an eye on this page daily. God bless you. #ManassehWritingTips
