WTIC Harboring Climate-Change-Denying Bloggers Please, Mommy, Make It Stop!!!!!!! Yesterday morning, author/columnist Thomas Freidman guested on Face The Nation and called for immediate action to address global warming/climate change/climate disruption. The name is changed according to the situation, but all we need is one more label and we can complete the full set of 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse. And that’s scary . And that’s the point of this whole industry. Freidman attributed the situation in Syria to climate, as the region has suffered below-average precipitation for several years. But in the latest report from the IPCC, the emphasis has changed from preventing warming, to providing aid to mitigate the effects of same on poorer nations. In other words: send them money, preferably from you, since you disobeyed the President’s assertion that: We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK,” Obama said. So those less fortunate won’t give us the green light, unless we give them money. Well, actually I suspect the funds will go to buy a new fleet of Mercedes for some Grand Deluxe Poobah and his posse. Yet another form of “trickle down economics”. Maybe some poor citizen will get a cash for washing their cars. Freidman brought up the 97 percent riff: Let me put this in personal terms. Your son or daughter has a disease. And you go to 100 doctors. 97 out of a hundred say, “This is a cause and this is a cure,” and three percent say, “This is a cause and this is a cure.” It’s like 97% of experts say this. 3% say that. And, conservatives say, “I’m going to go with the 3%.” Let me put this in personal terms. Your son or daughter has a disease. And, conservatives say, “I’m going to go with the 3%.” That’s not conservative. That’s Trotskyite-radical And we all know what happened to him. As it happens, I’m just finishing a biography of Josef Stalin. It seems following Lenin’s death, an ideological battle arose to determine his heir, and how the party would move forward. Stalin won and Trotsky was eventually“ retired” Strangely, “Warmists” are heading in a similar direction. A professor of Philosophy at the Rochester Institute of Technology called for the arrest and confinement skeptics (AKA heretics) , And one final point. I was once a believer. In the 1980’s the Midwest was experiencing a brutal summer. For months, daytime highs neared 100. Rainfall was non-existent, water departments enacted an odd-even rationing system for lawn watering, car washing, but not bathing. That summer Time printed an cover story featuring the hearings in Washington engineered by Al Gore and Tim Wirth. Scary stuff. The cover featured a photo of a red-hot sun, which presumably was soon to burn us all to a cinder. I became obsessed, and decided to learn more, and as I did, the less I bought the pitch. So what’s the deal? As is the usual case, someone will be wetting their beak in the cash flow- you know- taking a “commission” for their concern, and moral superiority: Action Aid, for example. AA is in reality a K-Street lobbying firm which is pushing to help those poor souls who will suffer from a warming/cooling/changing planet. In a recent financial statement, they reported spending 53 percent on programs (whatever those may be); 47 percent went to administrative costs and fund-raising. And advocating for more even distribution of resources hasn’t hurt Thomas Friedman. Here’s a photo of his modest home, just outside the Washington Beltway If we need to help Tuvalu and Vanuatu avoid the perils of a rising sea, maybe Tom could raise some cash by selling the house. You go first!
