WWII RE DENSION SMOCK REFERENCE THREAD. 1. First off remember it should be baggy as hell. not like a modern jacket as it was supposed to go over your webbing initially. 2. You want a half zip one, full zip is post war 3. Knitted cuffs and no way to fasten up the ape tail is 1st pattern, get one of these if you can as they were worn from about 44 to the 50s... if you get a button cuff late pattern you limit yourself to certain units and almost always post d-day 4. Best value for money is the SOF one, but if you can get an early run one, the current run is a little green. Other very good makes are pegasus drive (will cost you about £300), King and Country (no longer in production, again about £250 -£300 if you can find one), LAVA (only made 2n patterns and no longer in production) and Military Tours/Gmax (in my mind as good as a king and country. 5. Avoid Spearhead (weird colours), WPG (far too dark and solid colours) and Replicators (horrible and probably wont even turn up) 6. No insignia other than rank and GPR wings were worn on them as a rule. Some units in the june 5th pre assault painted huge white circles or triangles on the back of their smocks for visual ID.. dont think id want this myself. Pictured here is a King and Country smock in what i consider from having seen original in museums that were not sun bleached or wrecked to be the *proper* colours
