Waiting on Directv in regard to the Weather Channel being dropped from the lineup. Enrico, Thank you for a more adequate response that the prior canned response. As a show of good faith, Im will to wait up to 30 days for continued negotiations to occur that will cause the Weather channel to be reinstated to our paid line up. However, should your negotiates fail and the Weather Channel is not reinstated, I would expect there to be no termination fee charged upon disconnection of my service. I appreciate your timely and positive response to this request. William Phillips Dear Mr. Phillips, Hi! Thank you for writing back. My name is Enrico from DIRECTV Customer Service department. Sincerely, Enrico I. - 100441572 DIRECTV Customer Service William Phillips (01/28/2014 03:58 PM) Your response is inadequate. As a subscriber I pay for and expect the best of channels. Your substitute is like replacing an NFL team with a pop warner team all for a bottom line gain. As a weather impacted customer today in Birmingham AL. with an unusual snow fall, I expect the professional coverage of the weather channel. Please document my account that I intend to terminate my service at the end of my contract. However, I should have the option of terminating now without a termination fee based on Directs poor handling of the weather channel and failure to properly notify subscribers. Please escalate my fee waiver request so legal action is not required. William Phillips Administrator (01/28/2014 02:58 PM) The Weather Channel has removed its service from DIRECTV, and while that’s regrettable, DIRECTV will continue to provide its customers with what they have been asking for, around-the-clock, 100 percent weather news and information now available on WeatherNation (Channel 362). Consumers understand there are now a variety of other ways to get weather coverage, free of reality show clutter, and that The Weather Channel does not have an exclusive on weather coverage – the weather belongs to everyone. We know that you have a choice among television providers and appreciate your having chosen DIRECTV. Sincerely, DIRECTV Customer Care William Phillips (01/28/2014 02:58 PM) Dear Mr. White: DIRECTV customers were given neither a warning nor a vote when you decided to drop The Weather Channel. Now we are getting less, while DIRECTV is charging more (thanks to another round of rate increases). Given your decision to short-change your customers, surely we should be allowed to switch TV providers without being held hostage by hefty cancellation fees. Fairness ought to trump the fine print in your contracts. Sincerely, William Phillips
