Wakewich, Sandra SANDRA LUE WAKEWICH (MATHEWS) The family is saddened to announce that Mrs. Sandra Wakewich, nee (Mathews), 71, of Ignace, Ontario passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 28, 2014. Sandra worked at Manitoba Liquor Control Commission in Thompson, Manitoba. She was also an owner with her husband Claude Wakewich of Cushion Lake Resort in Upsala for 30 years. Sandra greatest love was her husband Claude, to whom she was married for 50 years, Sandra’s second love was her dog Pixie. Sandra loved life to the fullest, loved to travel; among her greatest passions she enjoyed spending time with her family and her friends. She loved gardening and flowers; she especially loved carnations. She enjoyed reading; her passion was the kitchen where she created so many wonderful meals. Sandra is survived by her loving husband, Claude Wakewich, Ignace, her brother Douglas Mathews of Thunder Bay, and numerous Nieces and Nephews. Sandra was born September 10, 1943 in Fort William (Thunder Bay), Ontario. She was predeceased by her parents, Alan Mathews and Archiebell Mathews, sisters Doris Repay, Gloria Mathews and Shelly Mathews. Burial will be at a later date at O’Connor Township Cemetery Thunder Bay, Ontario. Sandra was loved by many and will be missed! Sandra will be remembered at Emmanuel Anglican/United Church on November 1, 2014 at 11:00, officiant Jeanne Bryan. Luncheon to follow at the Ignace Silver tops in Ignace.
