Walk in the door. Remove backpack, place it gently on the floor. - TopicsExpress

Walk in the door. Remove backpack, place it gently on the floor. Unbutton jacket and hang it up in the hall closet. Amuse dog while placing my hat on my bicycles handlebars. Pull off shirt and toss gracefully onto nearby armchair. Freedom as the binder squeezes over my shoulders and is folded neatly, nestled sweetly next to the shirt. Unbutton pants and coax dog into lap. The couch is salvation. The TV, temptation. A quiet preparation for a night of contemplation with the silent lamentation of the childrens lack of patience with AISD. Test, quiz, worksheet, homework. Lather rinse repeat. Busy work busy work busy work overworked over looked, voices battle to be heard. Bodies gladiate to be hugged. Hands yearning to be held. Knowledge aching to be shared. Backs packed with facts and snacks packed in bags, their heads packed with crap. Like: if Jenny has 44 red marbles and 55 black marbles, how many marbles does Jenny have? Shes got 99 marbles but a lutz aint one, hit me. NO! Hands to yourself. Feet on the floor. Bottoms on the seat. Heads in the clouds. Hearts on your sleeves. One two three, eyes on me! Me me me, look at me. Look what I did. See? Yes. I see, little duck. Follow me, little duck. Were not little! Youre not little. Youre so big, so grown up. So pushed down to fit into a box. Youre not people; youre kids, we remind ourselves. Were not little! Youre not little, youre so very big.
