Walking in a Living Hope 1 Peter 1:3 - Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. According to His great mercy, He has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead When we read the term “hope” in the Bible, we benefit from knowing that it means so much more than just wishful thinking. In fact, such a perverted definition cheapens the biblical term. The meaning of the term used in 1 Peter 1:3 includes that of a confident assurance. If you are like me, there are days when your hope seems dim at best. Emotionally, we will have “up” and “down” days and seasons. But, for the Christian, we are not to allow our emotions to rule our lives. Here, Peter wants us to take note that our hope will never die – in fact, it has already defeated death! The resurrection of Christ is the single fact in a Christian’s life that will help “put us over the top.” When we reflect on Christ’s victory on that first Easter Sunday, we cannot help but find our mood boosted, our energy refreshed, and our focus clearer. Just as a reflection on the message of Good Friday generates thanksgiving, Easter’s message should generate boldness and evangelistic zeal! As you go about your activities today, reflect on this fact – our hope is a living hope – it lives here and now and it can and will never be killed or even diminished. Whatever you face today, do so bolstered by the knowledge that the One who overcame death and Hell is the One who intercedes for you and, through His Spirit, lives within you! Commit to honor God with your actions, your time, and your life today!
