Walking they say, is a must for a good recovery. This morning, I - TopicsExpress

Walking they say, is a must for a good recovery. This morning, I don my shoes and hat and venture outdoors for a walk around the yard and then over to the cattle barns across the road, so thankful for this day. A brisk breeze keeps the mosquitoes away and the sun is glorious. Inspecting the soil soaked wreck, that is my garden, quickly disheartens. Water stands in every hole and crevice possible. One potato plant from the many we planted has barely survived, striving to keep from drowning, its weak and unhealthy state echoes everything else I see on my walk. After getting another two inches of rain this week, things look dismal. Fields are totally saturated and pools of water lie everywhere. Hay crops, roots swimming in this perpetual water, are short and drowned out: all growth stunted. Fertilizer, seeds, and hope for 2014 crops, stand waiting for dry, hot weather. It is actually too late to plant. Water from the Assiniboine, which spills over our pastures from Lake Pinemuta hasnt reached us yet. Will the cattle be able to get enough grass once it floods? Where to get sufficient hay for winter? With the widespread flooding one wont be able to buy, nor afford the costs. As these thoughts invade my morning walk, and steal peace, I stop mid-field and look around at some of the water that is threatening our survival on this family farm. I find it difficult to be optimistic. I make my way back to the yard and as I walk, I hear the promises I have read so often: I will never leave you, nor forsake you, and I am with you always to the end of the age. I am instantly humbled and ashamed of my negative thoughts. Then, I think: Yes, Lord, You are here, and yes, Lord I will give these momentary doubts and worry no more freedom in me. Thank You Jesus for this day, for this life and Your Presence. I look forward to seeing how You will sort things out. I do not have to worry because You are in control. I enter the house after my walk: refreshed and at complete peace. I rejoice that we have a Heavenly Father who loves us, even when we falter and allow doubts to surface. Praise Him!
