Wall, SD (about 50 miles east of Rapid City) is a popular stop along I-90, known mostly for its drug store. Established in 1931, Wall Drug is a combination of gaudy (but not cheap) stuff, including lots of Indian objects made in China, if you read the fine print. Its huge....actually its a mall comprised of many shops with wares ranging from $500 western footwear, to cowboy art, to a working soda fountain. On the edge of the Badlands, Wall is a clean little town, population around 700. Im guessing that everyone in town works either at the drug store, or at the many motels and restaurants. At least during the summer. In the winter, everyone probably goes to Florida, if they have a lick of sense. Id describe the only grocery store as a convenience store on steroids. Tomorrow, we cruise the Badlands. Woo-hoo!
