Walnut sawn-veneer.. the unsteamed on the left (our locally harvested) and commercially sourced steamed walnut on the right. Notice the grayish tone of the steamed. This is done to homogenize the lumber by reducing contrast in the grain and to darken the light sap wood for even staining. At Goebel & Co. Furniture we dont stain the wood or add color in any way. This is why premium local timber sourcing is so important. The 1 year of cycle time from timber to table is important. The best of Missouri stays in the USA.
