Walvis Bay too good for Dolphins Walvis Bay pocket-ed their first league points of the season with a 38-19 home win over Dolphins on Saturday. Center Lu - Andre Duvenhage and flank Cevin Harding each scored two tries for Walvis Bay. Elmercer van Wyk (wing) and Elton Rentzke (hooker) also added tries. Jacques Nell added four conversions. Walvis Bay was scheduled to play United in their first league match of the season but withdrew. Dolphins had a bye. Uniteds 19-12 victory over Wanderers ensured the top place for them after the conclusion of the second round of NRU Premier League matches last weekend. United now leads the log on 10 points followed by Wanderers with 6 points. Wanderers established and enjoyed a 6 points lead with the score on 12-6 thanks to four penalties by flyhalf Dian Jacobs. United s captain and lock Winmar Rust added his third penalty kick and cut the deficit to three points with the scores at 12-9. Uniteds right wing Stefan Louw touched down for the first try of the match when play resumed in the second half. Rust added the conversion and handed Wanders a 4 points lead with the score on 16-12 lead. Rust added a fourth penalty in the 58th minute and se-cured the win for United. Defending champions FNB Western Suburbs recorded a 41-16 home victory against the University of Namibia (UNAM and pocketed a bonus point for scor-ring five tries via center Darryl de la Harpe ( 2 ), wing Deveraux Jansen, center Justin Nel and flyhalf Ascher Coet-zee. Nel added all five conversions and two penalties. Suburbs ra-ced into an 11 points lead with the score on 20-9 at the break. Unam eighthman Bwalya Bwalya and scrumhalf Ascher Coetzee each scored a try. Flyhalf Aurelio Plato added three penalties and a conver-sion for Unam. Reho Falcon enjoyed a bye the previous week and kicked off their campain by pocketing maximum points with a 35-8 vicotry over Polytechnic. Falcons try scorers were Peter Beukes (prop), Delrick van Wyk (lock), Greg Stein (center), Anthony Brandt (fullback) and Des Lee Beukes ( flyhalf). Beukes also added 15 via his boot. Reserve League results The results of the Reserve league between the second teams of the clubs in the Premier League : Wanderers 39 United 7 ; Reho Falcon 55 Polytechnic13 ; Western Suburbs 48 UNAM 3 , Walvis Bay 19 Dolphin 14. Scot McAlpine, Charles Jacobs and Jason McAlpine scored tries for Walvis Bay. Hirstle Olivier added two conversions. The Namibian selectors have named a strong 26-man squad to represent Namibia at the International Rugby Boards Junior Rugby Trophy competition in Hong Kong next month. The team includes 10 players who represented Namibia at last years Junior World Cup Trophy in Chile and four players that represented Namibia at senior level. Flanker Awie Thompson plays for the Cheetahs U20 and represented Namibia against Tunisia at the Africa Cup Division 1B tournament in Senegal last year. Flyhalf Chris Arries, lock Janco Venter and hooker Louis van der West-huizen were in action for Nmaibia in the Windhoek Draught Tri-Nations competition against Kenya and Zimbabwe in November last year. Several players in the named sqaud joined clubs and are based at rugby academies in South Africa while others are studying at universities. Fullback Ethan Beukes, centre Justin Newman and scrumhalf Wicus Swiegers are at the Sharks Academy. Hooker Desmond Stramis is at the Blue Bulls Academy. Flanker Awie Thompson is at the Cheetahs. Wing Reinold Benade, centre Divan Visser, lock Janco Venter, and props GD Orlam and Quintin Esterhuizen are at Stellenbosch University. Wing Rudi Peters, flyhalf Chris Arries and hooker Louis van der Westhuizen are at Potchefstroom University. Eighthman Wian Conradie is at the University of Johannesburg. Namibia aims to improve considerably and wants to do better than last year when they lost all their matches in Chile. The Namibians were defeated by Portugal 26-17, 23-21 by Chile, 33-7 by Italy and lost 40-29 to Uruguay. Namibia has been drawn in Group B where they will play their Pool matches against Canada on 7 April, Japan on 11 April and Uruguay on 15 April. Their final positional play-off match will be on 19 April. Group A consists of the United States, Tonga, Georgia and Hong Kong. The teams will be fighting for the top spot because only the top team will be promoted to the IRB Junior Rugby World Cup tournament. Namibia is seeded seventh for the tournament. Hosts, Hong Kong is seeded below them. The United States is the top seed, followed by Canada, Japan, Tonga, Georgia and Uruguay.
