Wam here again guys! Went and saw Chef today! It is written, directed and starred in by Jon Favreau. It also stars John Leguizamo, Sofia Vergara, Emjay Anthony and some guest appearances by Robert Downey Jr., Dustin Hoffman, Oliver Platt and Scarlett Johansson. Basically Favreau got his famous buddies together to have a good time and it pays off! Its about a Chef who receives a terrible review after cooking what his boss told him to cook instead of what he wanted to cook. Then his life unravels as he looses his temper and then his job which results in him getting a food truck and going on a road trip with his son and best friend. Here are some points on the film as I find this way much easier to bring you the good and (there isnt much in this one) bad. Let me know if you guys like this style of reviews also. 1. Ill get this out of the way early. My only gripe with the film is this -For me I felt they could have cut some time, it didnt feel long but there was some things that I think could have been cut out. 2. The acting is great with special mention to Emjay Anthony, Seriously an amazing child actor, he did a phenomenal job! I also really thought Favreau did an awesome job and I really enjoyed Leguizamo as well. Vergara is not her usual over the top self were used to seeing but it works quite well. 3. It is written brilliantly, It always had my attention and kept at a good pace. The ending was a little bit of an easy out, but it didnt bother me as it felt right. 4. The directing and cinematography are great, the colours really pop off the screen and give the kitchen feel with all the beautiful food and the different locations they visit on their road trip. As I said the pacing works quite well and it was shot well with locations and had some excellent overall shots. 5. The chemistry between Favereau, Liguizemo and Emjay is great! Something really worth noting. 6. Seriously get some food to watch this one otherwise you will be starving! Everything looks extremely delicious! 7. The second half of the movie is such a feel-good type that I had a smile on my face the whole time. Not to say the start isnt, but the second half definitely. 8. It is really funny, I laughed out loud at quite a lot of things, a lot to do with Favreaus character really not understanding how technology works and some of the back and forth between characters is just superb. Also as mentioned I was smiling for most of the movie which is always a good sign. 9. They use social networking in the movie a lot, but it is done exceptionally well. Like really well, sometimes movies just throw it in there but they do a really great job at using it to further the movie and keeping it explained through the characters use and misuse of it. 10. I loved the cameo parts from RDJ and Johansson, they were there enough to add something but not steal the show. 11. The father son element is really nice and extremely well crafted in my opinion, this goes back to their chemistry and also the writing just being excellent. 12. This is one of my favourites of the year so far. I absolutely adored Chef! A thoroughly entertaining and beautiful indie film that should definitely be seen. Guys go and check it out!! Im giving it 9 Cuban sandwiches out of 10! Its my night to cook dinner tonight too! Could not have picked a better movie to see, Im so ready and inspired! Enjoy!
