Wani lays foundation of developmental works in Poonch, Rajouri Health sub-centres in uncovered areas soon: Shabir POONCH, SEPTEMBER 19: Minister for Roads & Buildings Mr. Abdul Majid Wani, has laid foundations of three vital road links in Poonch and Rajouri districts. Minister of State for Health Mr. Shabir Ahmad Kahn also accompanied the Minister. Addressing the gathering at various places after laying the foundations of vital links, the Minister reiterated the commitment of government to connect all human habitations in the state by roads. He said the completion of these vital links would provide easy accessibility to people of these areas to the nearest urban areas, particularly in rainy seasons. He said the road links ahead of Tasyala and Kotian would be constructed under PMGSY. Mr. Wani said that the Union Government has launched various schemes for the welfare of the people under Bharat Nirman, saying that PMGSY is one among these started to provide road connectivity to habitations of rural areas. He said directions have already been passed to the concerned for formulation and submission of DPRs under PMGSY so that all the left-out rural habitations are connected with the nearest headquarters. He referred to Rs.710 crore provided by the centre for paying land compensation, saying that the road projects taken-up under PMGSY, would be completed on priority so that the benefit percolate to the people . Responding to the demand for opening of new health centres and up-gradation of existing ones, Health Minister said that 600 health sub-centres sanctioned by the Union Government would be opened in uncovered areas to widen the scope of Healthcare services to the door steps of the people. He said that the HSC would be established in consultation with the Legislators to ensure that maximum number of population are benefited. He said the children between the age group of 0-18 years involved in any serious disease would be provided free medicare at the hospitals within and outside the state. He said the up-gradation and strengthening of Mendhar hospital is apace. Giving brief account of achievements registered during the regime of present government, Mr Shabir said that a number of developmental projects have been completed, while as scores are in pipeline. He said, besides establishment of treasury at Manjakote, various steps have been taken for augmentation of water and power scenario in the district. MLC, Mr. Javaid Rana demanded special financial package for completion of on-going developmental projects being executed in the area under various schemes. He sought early announcement of Tehsil status to Balakote and compensation to cross-border shelling affected people. At Rajouri, Mr. Wani laid the foundation of Community hall at Town hall coming up at an estimated cost of Rs. 2. 86 crore. He announced Rs. 20 lakh for the completion of construction work on community hall. At Tasyala, the Minister laid the foundation of motorable bridge over Suktoo nallah which would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 2 crore. The bridge would provide connectivity to about a half dozen villages of the area with the district headquarter benefiting over 14,000 souls. Similarly at Manjakote, the Minister inaugurated motorable bridge on hayatpora-Manjakote road over Saktoo nallah. The bridge completed at Rs. 1.9 crore would provide easy accessibility to the people of the area. At Balakote of Poonch district, Mr. Wani laid the foundation of Basooni-Bahruti road which would be constructing at an estimated cost of Rs. 4.81 crore under PMGSY. He also laid the foundation of motorable bridge on Kotan- Soyian road. En-route, the Minister also visited Mendhar and inspected the pace of construction work on Mini Secretariat being executed by R&B department. The three storied complex is coming up at an estimated cost of Rs. 14 crore. Among others, Deputy Commissioner, Poonch Mr. Sajjad Ahmad Khan, besides senior officers of district administration accompanied the Minister.
