Want to know the reason Shopian is under such harsh curfew: Because they are scared of Shopian residents. Here is a story told by a journalist who was present in Shopian on that fatefull day "Touseef was being carried on shoulders. Slogans: “we want freedom” reverberate. Women outside the open air Mosque are crying as people carry Touseef towards graveyard. Midway, youths start to pelt stones massively on a building which has bunker on its front side. Till now it isn’t clear to me that what they are attacking. Soon, I learn that it is a residential building of district’s top most civil administrator. Many youth have climbed up on the bunker and are hurling stones. Bang! A loud explosion with fumes rising from it makes me skip a beat. Forces start tear smoke shelling at angry youth. After about dozens of teargas canisters are fired and they fail to control, police arrive from both sides of the road. I run to take cover as teargas shells start falling in front of me. I realize that I have lost other journalists who have come with me from Srinagar. Suddenly, I see a boy being carried by three masked youth. They shout “he has been hit”. It is not clear what has hit the boy. They hold him outside a Grand Mosque and ask him to walk. He has been hit by teargas on his ankle. He takes a breath and starts to walk again. The youth who were cornered by police charged at forces with batons and many climbed on wantons, rakshak vehicles, started kicking the vehicles after which extra CRPF and police was brought in from Pulwama and Kulgam. The crpf cavalcade which came from kulgam was attacked the youth carrying the body of 17 year old tawseef. 5 CRPF trucks , 2 wantons, 3 rakshak vehicles were stuck with such a mob.. That those vehicles glittered with sparks due to huge stone pelting. Thousands were on those vehicles charging, so many stones were ferrying that the CRPF vehicles got one sided in the air. I havent seen such clashes all my life"
