Want to save the planet? How bout changing your Bank... Are you against the idea of investing in the coal and gas industry? Without even realising it I bet most of you could well be doing just that. If you have a bank account with: Westpac, Commonwealth Bank, NAB, ANZ, HSBC, Citibank, ING, Macquarie Bank, AMP or ANY banks that are owned by the ones mentioned...you are DIRECTLY supporting the Coal and Gas industries. Since 2008 these banks have invested BILLIONS in these industries..from least to most: AMP (hold shares, figures unavailable), Macquarie: $331 million, ING $484 million, Citi $607 Million, HSBC $1236 million, Westpac: $3182 million, NAB $4695 million, Commbank $5199 million and ANZ $6749 million. This website has a list of banks and credit unions that do NOT invest in Coal and Gas.....im freakin closing my St. George account ASAP!
