Wanted to issue an apology over the Facebook status of my son and - TopicsExpress

Wanted to issue an apology over the Facebook status of my son and his unique brain wiring because it was brought to my attention that I am labeling my son and can be hurtful. I never want my son to feel labeled or not believe that he is smart. The Laceys do have unique brain wiring and I would not have my son any other way. It sets him apart and makes him that much more special because he is not mainstream and creative. I work with students with ADHD on a daily basis and there is always this fear of being labeled and then falling victim to the label. Those people need to embrace their special, creative qualities because they can be highly successful people and really driven in a career of passion. They just process and learn differently and need the support to manage their own learning. I try to keep my Facebook page clean, classy, upbeat, light- hearted and positive because reveling in the negative has never served my purpose so I live a life of sarcasm which can come across as insensitive and uncaring. I never want anyone who is different or has a learning disability to feel judged by me. I strive to create a positive, supportive atmosphere for my son. I can only control my own actions and not what others think of me. This is a social site that can function as a social trap and bring controversy and scrutiny which is why some people shy away from it. I am off my emotional, tirade soap box now :)
