Wanted to reshare this parent of camper letter from last years I Can...How About YOU? Camp I know this has been his best camp by far as he wanted to come everyday and did not complain about waking up. I could tell that he was regulated as he was very calm when camp was done and had great afternoons at home. I loved the scrapbook and cried so hard when I looked at it and read the beautiful comments from the instructors. This touched my heart so much and made me feel so proud of my son. I also think it is great having a camp/session like yours where children feel safe to be who they are and are free from judgement. They are understood and with people who care for them and know how to work with them. I know my son received exactly what he needed from this camp because he had probably the best week of all the summer in terms of his regulation and mood. The most touching thing for me though was when he said to me "Mom, life is such a joy" after the last day of camp. You gave him self esteem and feelings of worth and pride. I cannot thank you enough for making him feel so good to be who he is. Thank you for all the hard work and commitment that you and your team put into the lives of children who have much potential but just need some extra guidance and support and people who believe in them. This truly is a camp/session that provides opportunities for friendship, growth, opportunities to practice social skills in a safe place with effective supports available to coach the kids through, sensory breaks which are so needed for kids with special needs to function and empowerment for the participants to be leaders.
