Wanted to share with you the incredible journey of our street children from the Dil Se Campaign and who formed the Aryan class that Saloni Gupta and I had the privilege to teach. These youngsters were rescued from the streets and brought to Ummeed during their early teens and rebuilt their live there with love, support and dedication from the Campaign team and teachers like me and many others. During my time they studied 14 hours daily with no holidays and from ZERO education, they secured admission in Class 9th on their own merit in a private school in Delhi by clearing a written test and an interview with the Principal. Then with Saloni they passed 9th on their own steam and even when they did not get any guidance during their most crucial board year, they had enough gumption to study on their own and pass 10th board exams. Not any TFI test or some scholarship exam but an actual board exam! Now they are no different than any other 17 year old in Delhi. In 3 years from the streets of Delhi to passing board exams. If thats not transformation, I dont know what is...So proud to have been their teacher.
