Warminster Area Police News... Criminal Damage... Between 1900 hrs on 14th August to 0800 hrs on 15th August, damage was caused to the Church in Sutton Veny, Offender(s) unknown have used a drawing pin to draw obscene pictures on the wall and write two names all over the walls. This type of damage is not acceptable and is upsetting to the village and parishioners of Sutton Veny as a lot of time and effort is put in to maintaining the church for all to use at great cost. Overnight on 17th August 2013 a house on the HIGH STREET, HINDON, SALISBURY, United Kingdom a burglary occurred where the offender entered via an insecure door to the address. Once inside the house, they have stolen some 6 bottles of wine from the larder along with 1 bottle of gin & a gold carriage clock Also overnight on the 17th at a House on THE DENE, HINDON, SALISBURY, a burglary occurred where the offender has entered the insecure conservatory of the house and stolen items a mobile phone, hi-fi system, and a laptop. Inspector Alan Webb says: To have your house burgled is very distressing; we must all endeavour to make it as difficult as possible for thieves to enter our homes. It therefore remains vitally important that we all ensure that our homes are secured before going to bed, including the locking of doors and closing of windows that could be used by criminals for access. Theft from two motor vehicles... Between midnight on the 14th August and 6 am on the 15th August a Silver Vlokswagon Transporter van was parked on the HIGH STREET, SUTTON VENY, WARMINSTER, on the owners return to their vehicle they found that it had been entered and a Stihl FS400 strimmer, Stihl MS290 chain saw a Titleist golf standbag, set of Nike sling shot irons, Titleist 980 3 wood, Taylor Made RBZ stage 2 driver and Odyssey White Hot Putter had been stolen. Inspector Alan Webb says The stolen property in this incident is large and heavy it will have been difficult to move without using another vehicle. If you have high value property that you transport then please remove it when you park up your vehicle if your are able to and if you cannot remove it then please ensure that your vehicle is fitted with high security locks in order to put criminals off. Battery... At 2310hrs on 15th August a heavy duty vehicle battery was stolen from a Commercial Box Van on QUARTERMASTER ROAD, WEST WILTS TRADING ESTATE, WESTBURY, Inspector Alan Webb says: Were you in Quartermaster Road Westbury at about Midnight on the 15th August if so did you see anything suspicious. We are having a spate of thefts of batteries and these must be being sold on, either as scrap or second hand. If you see for sale second hand batteries or if you are a scrape company and are suspicious when you are being sold scrap, please contact the us so that we can investigate.
