Warning: very nasty rant ahead. This is my personal page, not ARCs. And my angst today is personal in nature, connected to ARC, but not the driving force behind any administrative actions. Im just mad, tired, and fed up with hypocrisy. I hope our volunteers have enough wherewithall to know they are excluded from this very caustic spew for the simple reason that by the nature of my complaint alone, I cant possibly be talking about them. If you show up to help as so many of you have done, you are not a target of this rant. Period. In fact, many of you have already encountered some of the sourpusses Im about to describe. And I doubt you appreciate their sanctimonious crap one bit more than I do. If I hear one more gripe about the way our rescue is run by anyone who doesnt lift a finger to help, I think I shall barf. Everybodys an armchair critic. Everybody thinks they know how they could do things better. Maybe some could. . .but why dont they? Because their life calling is not to save animals? Fine. But if you ask me, anyone who refuses to get involved with any project--especially a humanitarian one--loses the right to voice an opinion if they are not willing to contribute in some meaningful way. If you dont like the fact that we ship most ARC dogs out of state rather than adopt them locally, by all means--volunteer as our adoption coordinator. The position is open. See if you have any more luck with it than weve had, without compromising the standards set by rescues across the nation for determining what is a good home and what is not. If you dont like the way transports are handled, become our transport coordinator. Try it just once and see if you have half the talent you think you do. If so, great! The job is yours. Dont like seeing dog poop on the floor? Then be our guest to come help clean the kennels at least once a day. Oh, wait. That wont work, either, because youll have to actually come in contact with animal feces. Heaven forbid you break a nail or sully a shoe. Dont like the fact that I break up dog fights with a broom stick, or jack the jaw of a dog thats actively biting me? Oh, yeah. Thats right. Youre the same person who just stood there and did nothing while one dog attacked another and left her bleeding on the porch. I guess for you, thats the best way to handle it, or at least, the best way since they arent your dogs. Pfft. Go spout your self-righteous she beats her dogs crap into somebody elses ear. I dont see YOU doing anything to save any animals, much less reaching down to pick one up while its steadily biting your hand. No, youd probably just put a bullet in its head instead. Youve threatened to do it before. So yeah, Im pretty fed up. Im broke from having to fork out hundreds of dollars in personal money to finance the last transport, exhausted from cleaning up behind animals that so few people seem to care about, and bitter from all the opposition rescuers face to the idea that animals are sentient, living creatures, all unique individuals who deserve the chance to be happy. To so many, theyre just personal property, to be destroyed at random if they become an inconvenience. We are making a difference, even though its taking a tremendous toll on me. ARC is SAVING ANIMALS, and we are getting results. Were not just sitting around talking about it. Were DOING it. Is it always pretty? Good Lord, no. And its probably going to be the death of me. But at least Ill die knowing I made a difference in this world.
